Our in-house 3D CBCT technology will help to select the best type and location of dental implants for your situation, visually evaluate your oral anatomy before the procedure, reduce the risk of dental implant complications, and improve your comfort as well as reduce recovery times.
For implant-based dental restorations, we proudly use implants from Nobel Biocare, a Swiss leading innovator of superior products, with over 40 years of expertise in implant dentistry.
The surgical placement of a dental implant typically takes less than 1 hour, however this can be lengthier if complex bone or soft tissue grafting is required or the patient is intravenously sedated.
Dental implants are placed in two separate procedures, usually 3 months apart. The first part is the surgical placement of the dental implant into the jawbone to replace the missing tooth root. This is covered with a temporary healing cap and left to fuse with the bone in a process called osseointegration which takes approximately 3 months. The second phase is the restorative part where the implant is uncovered and restored with a crown or bridge.
Dental implants are one of the most predictable treatment options in dentistry. They enjoy over a 95% success rate over a 10 year period.
The placement and restoration of dental implants is carried out under profound local anaesthesia so the procedure is entirely painless. There may be some localised mild post operative discomfort once the anaesthesia wears off, is this fleetingly temporary and can be managed with over the counter pain medications.
Implants start from $6750 for both the surgical placement and restorations but can be more if extractions and/or grafting is required.
There will be some localised mild discomfort for a few days post operatively and there will be some stitches in the mouth for approximately 2 weeks that will need to be removed by your surgeon.
Traditional x – rays only produce a 2D image of a 3D structure. In order to accurately plan the position of a dental implant to less than a millimetre a 3D image must be taken. We have the latest European low dose 3D imaging machine in our practice so there is no need to go to an imaging centre with a referral letter. An in house complimentary 3D image will be taken as part of your initial consultation.
Implant dentistry is a complex procedure that should only be carried out by a suitably trained and experienced surgeon. It is imperative that all vital structures such as nerves, arteries and sinuses are avoided to avoid any post operative complications. Antibiotics will routinely be given pre and post operatively to reduce the risks of infection. Smoking is a huge contradiction to implant surgery and cessation is strongly recommended to avoid implant failure.
Our surgeons have recognised post graduate qualifications in implant dentistry and years of experience, routinely and successfully placing several implants per week.
