As with all dental treatment the first step is always a comprehensive new patient exam. This includes an oral examination, routine low dose x -rays and a gentle scale and clean. During this appointment any oral disease will be diagnosed and a treatment plan drawn up to ensure your mouth is perfectly healthy to start your veneer journey.
The next step is to have an in depth discussion about what you want. You are an active participant in this process. Photographs of your old smile or smiles of celebrities you like are a useful starting point. We will take photographs and a digital scan of your mouth, discuss tooth shapes, sizes and shades using our specialised guides.
From this information our master ceramicist will produce a digital smile design of what you desire and print a 3D model.
The next step is the preparation appointment. This is carried out under local anaesthesia with or without sedation. The teeth are very minimally prepared to receive the veneers. From the printed 3D model a matrix is fabricated which is used to transfer a temporary mock up of your new smile into your mouth. This is a very important stage, it allows you to trial your new smile and make any changes you want before the ceramicist hand makes and finishes the final veneers in ceramic.
The final step is to remove your temporary veneers and individually bond your new ceramic ones. Then you can smile away and enjoy!
Well made, perfectly fitted dental veneers that are regularly checked and cleaned should last upwards of 15 years before possibly needing a refresh.
